Deyvison De Los Santos Named Texas League Player of the Month for April 2024
Joe Camporeale-USA TODAY Sports

Diamondbacks prospect Deyvison De Los Santos is off to a hot start in 2024, hitting .376 with seven home runs, 18 RBI, and a 1.112 OPS in his first 21 games. That earned him Texas League Player of the Month honors for April.

De Los Santos, 20, was originally signed by the D-backs out of the Dominican Republic in 2019. After being left off the 40-man roster last winter, he was selected by the Cleveland Guardians in the Rule 5 Draft. He was returned to Arizona when he did not make the Guardians’ Opening Day Roster and was assigned to the organization’s Double-A affiliate in Amarillo. He ranks as the D-backs’ No. 14 prospect by MLB.

As noted by the Sod Poodles, De Los Santos recorded hits in 17 of the 21 games he played in April, with nine multi-hit games. His carrying tool is top-of-the-scale raw power, which projects to a potential 30+ home run bat. The main concern with the young slugger has been his ability to consistently barrel up the baseball, especially after struggling for much of the previous season in Amarillo.

In his first 23 games, De Los Santos is batting .398 with nine home runs, 21 RBI, and a 1.187 OPS. Even accounting for the home run inflating environment of Hodgetown, FanGraphs rates his offense to be 121% better than the average Texas League Player with a 221 wRC+. Once a third baseman in the system, he has played almost exclusively at first base in 2024. He projects to arrive in Arizona during the 2025 season.
