'I was like the final boss': Record-breaking champion expresses desire to still compete against Brock Lesnar in dream match
Joe Camporeale-USA TODAY Sports

Despite losing the Intercontinental Title to Sami Zayn at WrestleMania XL, Gunther hasn’t lost his momentum at all. He cruised through the competition and has reached the semifinals of the King of the Ring tournament. Recently, The Ring General expressed his desire to fight someone with whom he has crossed paths exactly once before.

While speaking with the Daily Mail, the former I.C. Champion said that he was more than up to fight Brock Lesnar. He stated that people always saw him as the final boss of the division, but Gunther himself saw The Beast as the final boss of the whole company. Although The Ring General admitted that he wasn’t aware of the current situation regarding Lesnar, he was ready to go against him in the future.

Since his debut on the main roster, fans have been clamoring for a face-off between the two heavyweights. Their wish soon came true, as they came face-to-face in the Royal Rumble match last year. However, Lesnar was soon eliminated by Bobby Lashley, halting the possibility of a matchup between them in the near future. The Beast last wrestled at SummerSlam, suffering a loss against Cody Rhodes, before he was implicated in the Janel Grant lawsuit.

I always saw Brock as my final boss. I was like the final boss of that division, and Brock, for a long time, was the final boss of the whole company. How the situation is exactly right now, I'm really not that informed about it, to be honest. Gunther on Brock Lesnar via The Daily Mail

Although Triple H clarified at the WrestleMania XL press conference that Lesnar wasn’t done with WWE, there are currently no signs of him returning yet. Recently, Paul Heyman mentioned his name in his Hall of Fame speech, suggesting that he could return soon. Meanwhile, the 36-year-old star has continued to dominate his rivals and will now fight Jey Uso on next week’s episode of Raw.

WWE legend Kevin Nash praised the battle between Gunther and Sheamus

Gunther and Sheamus are two of the hardest-hitting wrestlers in the company right now. Fans have witnessed them delivering banger after banger. They met again in round 1 of the King of the Ring tournament, in which The Ring General won. As such, Kevin Nash had nothing but positive words to say about both of them.

While speaking on his Kliq This podcast, Nash reviewed Gunther’s round-one match against Sheamus. He especially praised The Celtic Warrior for selling his leg injury well and taking care of it when he went to cover him. The 64-year-old legend further added that, even though one guy had to win and the other had to lose, the match benefited both superstars.

Sheamus did a really good job selling the leg and he went for his finish the kick, he hits it and then it takes him a minute to get over and cover him. I still think that they accomplished everything they wanted to and I definitely think that Sheamus was more over doing the job.  Kevin Nash via Kliq This podcast

After the heartbreaking loss against the 36-year-old star, the Irish-born wrestler announced that he wouldn’t like to wrestle him again. Although this setback surely hurt his momentum after recently returning from an injury, it will be interesting to see where he goes from here.
